Wednesday's Words

The word for this week is 'PRIORITY'. We have them, we rank them, and we keep them accordingly. With that in mind, it seems we're here once again. Just a few days before the time we celebrate Christmas and while some things change dramatically over time, others do not. Life on this earth remains hustle and bustle for many, if not most 20 centuries after that first Christmas. Today, we can easily be so rushed to get to a place that we often miss the point. Just in case that's where you're at right now (and all of us identify) take a moment and reflect on a simpler time. You have to go back a number of years but it's worth the journey. Wednesday's Words

The word for this week is 'DEPENDENCE'. In a nation where we are shaped by independence and take pride in it, dependence on God entirely can be a difficult. Dependence, for many may often be associated with weakness and can be looked upon as something to avoid at all costs. In John 15:5, Jesus illustrates a point for us that reinforces the nature and need of dependence. "I am the Vine, you are the branch, the one who abides in Me and I in him, bears much fruit for without Me you can do nothing." Jesus didn't say 'without Me you can do a few things OR without Me you can do some things OR even without Me you can do one thing.' Jesus said in no uncertain terms--'without Me you can do nothing.

Wednesday's Words

The word for this week is 'TRUST'. Trust is a word often translated 'confidence' or even 'hope'. Trust and faith are synonymous in that both require a willingness to demonstrate dependence on something or someone entirely. Partial trust or confidence is really no trust or confidence at all. Trust is vital for any meaningful relationship to develop and mature. Trust, in human relationships is often built slowly and can quickly be torn down through a lack of integrity. Trust requires some discernment and use of discretion. We must not put our trust in anyone or anything proven untrustworthy.
