Pastoral Perspectives, In my journey through the Bible in D-group devotional a few weeks ago, I ran across the text in Exodus 2 where Moses was born, then hidden by his parents for fear of his being killed, then found by Pharaoh's daughter who permitted his own mother Jochebed to raise her own son without the daughter of Pharaoh knowing that important detail. Jochebed would ultimately return and release her son to the daughter of Pharaoh who named him Moses--'because I drew him out of the water'. Pastoral Perspectives, It seems that in most cases in our life on earth there is one thing that consistently helps us get through every day. That one thing is balance. Without balance, we will fall. Except a plane be equipped with two wings, it will not long fly. Knowledge without wisdom throws our thinking out of balance. While both are good and each have their place, exercise is required in both to make the most of life. Truth without compassion can harm more than it helps. Law without grace becomes punishment and not discipline. Pastoral Perspectives, Many are familiar with the text in Mark 2:22 where Jesus says, "No one pours new wine into old wineskins, if he does, the wine will burst the skins and both the wine, and the wineskins will be ruined.
