Monday's Ministry Morsel

As I began this Monday--I was reminded of the association of light and sight. Have you ever dropped something and needed light to help you find it? It was there but you couldn't see it. On occasion, others who have better sight are able to help you find it.

It is amazing how things can hide in the shadows of a small room. A small paper clip can hide in plain sight without enough light. I saw a small round clip fall from a shelf this morning in my home and looked for a while to try to find it. I saw it fall and heard it bounce on the carpet. I know it is in that small area somewhere but all of my efforts proved unproductive. I moved some things around in order for the light to help me see but nothing significant appeared. I even brought it to my wife's attention and she tried to find it. Because I know it is there somewhere, I realize it will take more time and more light to reveal where it is hiding.

The same might be said of our relationship with the Lord. There are times that we know something is missing or something has been lost but we don't take the time to allow His light to reveal what it is or where it went. Many simply 'hope' that with time it gets better or that it somehow will just appear from nowhere and be discovered once again.

When something important is displaced or misplaced in our life, most generally take whatever time necessary using every means at their disposal to find it. Why? Because it's valuable to them.

The Apostle John said in 1 John 1:7--"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

Nothing should be more important or carry more value than our relationship with Jesus. If that precious prize is not as valuable to you as it once was, then something has been displaced or misplaced in the heart. Sadly, in far too many instances something of lesser value has replaced it. Sight will be impaired without His light illuminating our soul. It can be right in front of you and you not see it without His light. That said, what's hiding in plain sight that you are not seeing? Are you willing to permit God to turn His search light on in your heart to discover what is hiding in the corners of the room of your heart? Are you willing to take the time for a thorough search of your soul; today or this week?

It is imperative if you hope to walk in the light of fellowship with Jesus! And who would not want that?

We can't effectively shine light in a dark world unless we are willing to walk in the light daily! That requires confessing sin and being renewed daily in our union with Christ. It's worth the time and effort!!

By the way, I know that little clip is in that room--somewhere. It may not be all that important to some but it is important enough for me to take a brighter light and attempt once again to discover where it's hiding.

Hope you will do that as well in the matters that God directs you in this week!

May the Lord bless you and keep you in the journey of faith.
