A Word for the Week

Paul wrote to Timothy and to all who have ears to hear--

"Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the fellowship of the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began." 2 Timothy 1:8-9

If there was ever a time for boldness in our witness, the time is now, the need is urgent and we must respond with the confident assurance that we are not alone in our commission of the gospel. As we go, we go in His authority which provides all we need to influence those around us with truth that transforms any and all who believe.

When you think about it, the gospel is really a simple straightforward approach to experiencing life as God designed it. We recognize we are sinners. We acknowledge that we need saving, are worth saving and that Jesus is the only Savior. We repent of sin (turn away from it) and accept His payment for sin on simple child-like faith. The miracle of transformation occurs in the innermost part of the human spirit and that soul is born again by grace through faith unto good works. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Believers are commanded to share their story of the life that Jesus provides with others. God honors that testimony with the opportunity for others to accept the free pardon of sin and produce righteousness, as well.

God saves us for a purpose! His!

He saved us to serve according to His power, not our own. Therefore, we must have boldness in our witness!

So how will you decide to respond to this week's assignment of sharing the gospel in your strategic circle of influence? That's entirely up to each individual and their willingness to obey the word of the Lord. Before you make up you mind, remember, eternity is in it.

May the Lord bless His work and our witness this week!
