A Word for the Week
We begin a series of 4 messages on generosity this coming Sunday morning at 10:30. In January we plan to examine the foundation of generosity, the spirit of generosity, the plan of generosity, and finally the strategy of generosity.
The theme for the month is based on God's generosity toward us and our response to others. In reading this morning I noticed the number of times that the word 'give' is used in some form in the 17th chapter of the gospel of John alone. This is the chapter--(26 verses)--that records the Lord's prayer prior to His completing God's plan of redemption. In what has been referred to as the High Priestly prayer--the word 'give' or some form of it is used at least 17 times, depending on your particular translation.
God's grace of generosity consistently gives what we don't deserve and may not even desire as we should. God help us to be less demanding in our wants and more desiring of His will this year!
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved that He gave His one and only Son..."
John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name..."
May those who abound in His grace learn to live & give more generously in 2018!
Now there's a resolution you and I can keep because He gave!
