A Word for the Week
Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to us!
Faithfulness to hear and faithfulness to help in whatever we may face and/or fear.
I read from Psalms 61 a couple of days ago, particularly verses 1-4 where the Psalmist says--
"Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings."
It doesn't matter where you are, how you got there or even how long you've been there; wherever 'there' is for you this week, God is accessible to His own and eager to provide much needed assistance when we feel overwhelmed. Christ has made that possible for those who are redeemed and reconciled to God. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason for a believer to be overcome by the assaults of our Adversary. And yet, that is exactly where many beleivers find themselves far too often!
Jesus has conquered Satan and sin and yet the conquest of the self-rule of the flesh remains a deterrent to complete victory in Jesus for many.
Victory in Jesus is available today for anyone, anywhere, anytime but only as we surrender the control of our soul to His leadership/Lordship. The circumstance, whether easy or difficult doesn't matter. God is able to provide victory over anything that threatens our well being. When we get overwhelmed (and we do) with life, we have somewhere to turn and someone to trust with the utmost confidence.
Jesus is the rock that is higher than I am. From where He sits today, He can see the whole picture while we are able to see only a small segment. Jesus is the shelter, the strong tower in which I can find rest and refuge, however you and I must choose to enter IF we hope to find help in time of need.
I realize that we are not that far into 2018, but we are far enough into this new year to find ourselves overwhelmed by something. While I don't know, nor do I need to know what that may be for you; the fact is--God knows and that is all that matters! So whatever is pressing on you today, you don't have to go to the end of the earth or come to the end of your rope to find shelter under His wings. But if you insist on going that far, you can have confidence even then and there, that when you cry out, when your heart is overwhelmed, God will hear your cry and attend to your prayer! And He does so because He loves you! Contrary to what you have heard from others or possibly even thought yourself, THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE!
May the Lord bless His word to you this week!
