First Things @ First
In reading this morning from the word of God and from other sources that shed some light on the word of God I was reminded of God's ownership of my life.
In biblical terms, "I have been bought with a price..."
1 Corinthians 6:20a
Before going into ministry, farming and ranching was my life. And part of that included putting your mark of ownership on those livestock that were under your care. In the spring of the year we would 'work cattle'. And that meant heating up the old 'River K' branding iron and putting our mark on those animals that were in our possession. The smell of hair and hide being branded is something you never quite forget. Wherever that 'beast' went, it carried our mark with it. When it was inside the fence, it bore our mark and when it was outside the fence it still bore our mark.
So, it is with God and His ownership of those He has reconciled unto Himself through the purchase of Christ's blood atonement. According to 2 Corinthians 1:22. God sealed us with His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. The believing sinner, at the moment he/she accepts the free pardon of sin through faith is 'stamped with His Spirit'.
There will never be a day thereafter when you and I are not His by ownership. It doesn't matter whether we are inside the fence or outside the fence, we bear His mark of ownership.
His care compels us to stay within the fence because that is where we are cared for most and best. We produce and reproduce according to His purpose for our life.
Paul would put it this way in the last part of 1 Corinthians 6:20--'therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
I challenge you this week to wear His stamp in a way that others see His mark of ownership and desire to be included in 'the herd of His holiness'.
God's best to all!
