First Things @ First
I am reading through the daily devotional, 'The Believer's Code' by O.S. Hawkins in 2020.
God has truly given us genuine men of God who are being used for His kingdom purpose.
Hawkins written material is a case in point. My journey has been influenced for the better through the inspiration and insight that God's Spirit has provided. And God is continuing to be glorified.
The latest of those insights came on a Saturday morning a few days ago during some time with the Lord. It is worth sharing, especially if you find yourself dealing with circumstances that are leaving you somewhat disturbed or 'shaken' a bit. Follow along and you'll discover a fresh perspective on life; even a life that is disturbed now and again by the hand of God.
Hawkins uses a familiar passage of scripture, at least to some. The text is Romans 8:28 that says, "we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Hawkins writes--"Just because you are in a storm doesn't mean you aren't in the middle of God's will." (Pause and read that again) Hawkins continues--"You see, God uses the storms to refine His disciple's faith. Still, when difficulties come, we can find ourselves asking a multitude of questions that have no satisfying answers.
One evening some time ago, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling very nauseated. I went into the bathroom and grabbed a bottle of that famous pink medicine. Just before taking a dose, I noticed the red letters on the side of the bottle: SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. And what does that have to do with life's storms? From time to time we get too settled in our everyday life, too focused on ourselves, or too unaware of the Lord's presence with us or desires for us. Then our loving God comes along. Why? To shake us well before using us!
Our top priorities in life have a way of settling at the bottom of our everyday activities and responsibilities. If you are being shaken today, maybe God is realigning your priorities--and maybe He is doing so because He is about to use you in an amazing way."
Good word for good work to be accomplished!
The test is whether you and I trust God who is permitting that we be shaken well before using.
Regardless whether it's medicine or ministry--best to be shaken well and stirred up good before the contents of the container are released for the best service.
Whatever you're dealing with today that is leaving you feeling a little 'sick', remember that God is working all things together for good in those who are called according to His purpose.
Take the medicine.
You'll discover it helps you and me to better accomplish His ministry.
Be well in His work!
