A Word For Today
As I was reading this morning, (Friday, April 3rd), even amidst all that is unknown, God reminded me of something that can be known through faith in Him every hour of every day. His promise to me earlier this morning encouraged me as they often do. I trust you will be encouraged as well.
This specific promise came from one of the most familiar of the proverbs of Solomon, Proverbs 3. While God is the author of all scripture, Solomon is credited as being the principle in penning those 31 chapters in the Old Testament. It's in Proverbs 3 that we find the words--"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 (If you don't know that from memory, you surely have heard it quoted a few times.)
There is so much practical wisdom in this book of the Bible. I hope you'll continue the journey in God's Word--First Word, Final Word as we begin walking through the book of Proverbs each morning with God on Monday, April 6. We'll be in the book of Psalms every evening as well.
My prayer for you through this journey is that each day will begin with a word of wisdom and each day will conclude with praise and thanksgiving! I'm confident that lives will be drawn to God and deepened in the process.
To give you an example of what to expect daily from these passages, read, as I did earlier today Proverbs 3:19-26 and be encouraged to live life with true victory in Jesus!
"The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens; by His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes--keep sound wisdom and discretion; so they will be life to our soul and grace around your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; (don't miss that) yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. (don't miss this) Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; FOR THE LORD WILL BE YOUR CONFIDENCE, AND WILL KEEP YOUR FOOT FROM BEING CAUGHT."
I can with great thankfulness share with you on this Friday morning in early spring that my mind has been filled during the day, but my sleep has been more peaceful than I can remember in many months. To God be the glory for His grace and peace!
I trust you will trust Him more and live in the overflow of His grace too!
Hope you'll tune in this coming Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. as we connect via social media for worship. I'll be sharing a word from
1 John 1 & 2 on a message titled--'God's Answer to Mankind's Greatest Problem.' Brett and the fbc worship team will be leading in praise as well.
Pray for one another this weekend!
God's best always,
