A Word for Today
As I began the day on Wednesday, I prayed for the wisdom from God's word on how best to live the day He had given me. I read through Proverbs 10 and then continued in my own personal journey through the book of Psalms. As I read Psalm 91, God spoke encouragement into my soul. I pray that you will be encouraged today from the same word He gave me a few days ago.
Picture yourself sitting in the lap of the LORD as He speaks these words into your soul.
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (what a statement of truth) I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.' Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. Because He has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will exalt him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With length of days I will satisfy him and show him My salvation." Psalm 91:1-16
As you open your heart and allow these words from God to penetrate your heart, remember there is a friend or family member that could use the same counsel. Pass it on and be fearless in facing what the devil designs against you today and every day!
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you (if in fact He is IN you) than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4
Either we believe that, or we don't! Either we live it when it counts, or we won't.
By the way, (in case you're interested) I had the opportunity on Wednesday to gather around a grave and celebrate a life well lived! And it was good to see so many familiar faces gathered in support at a respectful distance. We laid to rest the empty body of a man who lived his faith. Later that afternoon I spent some quality time with another man who is still living his faith at 82. That man was my dad. Along with my wife and mom, we were able to experience some of the good that God provides for us every day. And I discovered that it's still possible to enjoy life when everyone involved in your circle is resting in and relying on God's promises.
All in all, Wednesday was a good day to live, love and leave the results in God's hand. A day I won't regret because it was a day that began with a promise from God. Wednesday, for me was a day of facing death without fear. And when you think about it, shouldn't we do that every day?
Bring on tomorrow because God is greater!
I believe that, I pray you do, as well!
