Ministry Perspective

With every passing week, this world continues to move closer toward its conclusion and with it the revelation of Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! That will be an exciting time for many but sadly not everyone.

Until that moment of the twinkling of the eye when the Lord catches away His bride, the Church is required by divine command to be engaged in unceasing prayer in being an enthusiastic witness of Jesus' love and life.

There is a verse of scripture that I read on Thursday of last week and was given some fresh insight on. The text may be familiar, but the truth it contains transcends every situation you and I have faced or ever shall.

The Word of God says in Philippians 2:9-11, "Therefore, God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.."

This is not some 'tweet' from the leader of the free world, this is the truth from the Lord who made it. These verses flow from the verses that precede it that inform us that Jesus being highly exalted came as the result of Jesus first being willing to humble Himself, even to the point of death.

How might we apply His truth to what we are experiencing today in our nation and world? Eventually, all who are alive at His coming will confess that Jesus is Lord, however, all today who have confessed Him as Lord and Savior have been given all that is necessary to accomplish the design of God through praying in the name of Jesus. 'In Jesus' name' is not just a closing or even a starting point for our prayers. Praying in Jesus' name means that we pray as He would pray in matters that Jesus would pray for. When we shape our prayers according to His Word and His will, then God responds by doing what is asked in Jesus' name.

As believers, saved, secured, and being sanctified, we learn to pray under His authority believing the name of Jesus carries all authority even today, in heaven, on the earth and under the earth. As Dr. Warren Wiersbe has correctly stated, "when men refuse to allow the Lord to rule, He will overrule." That truth speaks to His sovereignty as well as His being Savior. The Bible says that God the Father gave His Son, Jesus all authority because He was willing to humble Himself and fulfill the will of His Father, which is redeeming those ruined in sin. How much more will this same Jesus do through the prayers of those who are willing to come under His authority from the place of a humble heart?

Why is any of this important? Simply because too many have for too long tried to 'fix' their world or even the world around them through their own efforts of management or even manipulation. The Word of God reveals that because we have been accepted in the family of God, we have access to all the power we will ever need to see the world around us change for His glory! But to see that power revealed, we as believers must follow the example of our Lord in first humbling ourselves before the exalted Lord and pray under HIs authority for righteousness to prevail and for wickedness to be put down.

We are a little over one hundred days away from certain decisions that will affect the course of this nation. Our decisions in November will largely determine the course that our children and grandchildren face. This election cycle is not about Democrat, Republican or Independent. It's not about black lives matter or all lives matter. This is not a black or brown or white decision. This is a decision about what is right and what is wrong according to the Word of God. It was good enough for the founding fathers of this nation two-hundred and forty-four years ago and it remains the best foundation today to build on.

The truth of God's Word has not and will not change. We must always remember that God established what we too often take for granted because a few people were willing to stand on the principle truth that God was their authority. If the nation of America is to endure, we who believe God is the supreme authority must pray with authority from God for the right to prevail and the wrong to be overcome in Jesus' name!

It will do no good to sit on our hands for the next one hundred days and hope our side wins! If America and the freedom that makes this nation unique in the world is to continue, then people of faith in God must get on their knees every day and pray that God's will of overcoming evil will prevail. By the way, that is God's will every day ending in 'Y'.

However, to enjoy the fruits of His freedom, we must be willing to sacrifice our comfort and surrender ourselves daily to the direction of His Word and His will in our own lives. When the Church decides to get serious about praying with humility of heart to the Lord who has been given all authority and power, we will see His will prevail until Jesus arrives to clean up the mess that mankind as a whole has made of His world while He's been away.

Ultimately, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. However, that power is available today WHEN we humble ourselves and pray and seek HIs face, turning from our wicked ways, THEN He will do what He has always been able to do. Heal our land! 2 Chronicles 7:14 The sun has not come on the day when God could not save His people and heal our land. It does not matter whether it is by few or by many. God is waiting for His people to humble themselves and pray like they have never prayed before!

Be a part of His solution. Be willing to pray under His authority, in Jesus' name according to His Word and work of righteousness daily.

If you value freedom--pray under His authority!

If you value family--pray under His authority!

If you value friendship--pray under His authority!

If you value the fellowship of His Church--pray under His authority!

If you value a future where your children and grandchildren can enjoy what so many have sacrificed for over the years--pray under His authority!

And the Lord will do what needs doing in November. He will provide for and protect those who prayed under His authority, whatever comes afterwards because they were willing to humble themselves and pray!

Question is, are you and I willing to do what needs doing today in Jesus' name to see a better, brighter tomorrow?

"O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker! For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand." Psalm 95:6-7

Here's to being on our knees at His feet in the meantime and for all time,
