Ministry Perspectives,

As I type what follows, I am reflecting on how there can be so much information available in our world today and so little discernible truth. Most of what we have before us has a slant associated with it. Sometimes the information is slanted this way to leave a particular impression or to sway the audience in a certain way while at other times it is slanted the other way to do the same with another audience. Such is most of the dialogue of those who are more devoted to a cause of division and discontent than unity and blessing.

Many in the Church today find themselves caught up in or even being swept away by what is going on around them more than who is dwelling within. The last few months have tested the core of who we are as believers, as followers of Christ. I believe the next few months will refine the Lord's church even more. The 'heat' will be turned up this fall as the world system continues its attempt to squeeze the Church into its mold of virtual ineffectiveness.

I understand why those who deny Christ are fearful and focused more on their own personal welfare. However, the only discernible explanation for those who have professed to follow Christ and who respond in similar ways reveals either the absence of truth in their head and/or the absence of truth being applied in their heart.

Example being, (and there are literally thousands of these in the Word of God) Isaiah 40:27-31.

"Why do you say, O Israel, my way is hidden from the Lord. And my just claim is passed over by my God"? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. (Listen carefully and learn something significant) He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. BUT those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Should you be one that feels your concerns are being passed by, remember the Word of the Lord. There is nothing that He cannot do with His creation and much He will do in those who acknowledge such in faith.

How you and I walk through this refinement period won't depend on how young we are or how strong and healthy we think we are. Those who progress through the problems of life do so consistently because they find His strength to fulfill His purpose as they are willing to acknowledge their own weakness (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).

The Lord provides the strength to soar above what entangles so many today. He produces the strength necessary to stride toward the goal of the upward call of God daily in Christ Jesus and take another step without losing heart.

If the circumstances of 2020 have reinforced anything in my soul, it's this. As believers, we were never equipped to live our own kind of life, in our own kind of way on our own time. It is always in our weakness that we discover His strength to stand in the storm. Always!

Hear the heart of the Psalmist David who experienced his own share of stress and distress in life--"I would have lost heart (fainted), unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say on the Lord!" Psalm 27:13-14

Do not waste the problem periods of life!

Be encouraged and fearless when the world system promotes uncertainty.

Stay in the Word and stand on His promise even while in the problems! The Lord will cause you to stand and not be swept away by the waves of wickedness that continually batter this world we live in.

You and I will never realize that the Lord is all we need until we realize that He is all we have!

Therein is found one of the great lessons for life!

Held by hope in Him,

Pstr K
