God's Word is living, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). God says to anyone willing to hear in John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."

The name of Jesus reveals authority over everything without exclusion or exemption (Matthew 11:27). To believe in His name is to believe God sent Him to save those who are willing to surrender to His authority, deny themselves and embrace the grace of God through faith. The reward is abundant life here with the promise of eternal life hereafter. There is no better offer for humanity available regardless of what the promoters of this 'world system' say!

The late Billy Graham provides insight for us on this verse with the following--"The ugly larva in its cocoon spends many months in almost unnoticeable growth and change. But no matter how great that growth may be, there comes a moment when the little creature passes through a crisis and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. The weeks of silent growth are important, but they cannot take the place of that event when the old and the ugly are left behind, and the new and the beautiful come into being."

Have you had a 'moment of crisis'--(Henry Blackaby would call it a crisis of belief) -- when the old and ugly way of life has been transformed into a new and beautiful life?

With all of us, there have been many things, important things that helped shape us for that moment. Some good, some, not so good. However, all the growth that took place before matters little without a moment when the old is cocooned in surrender, the chrysalis of our hardened heart is broken apart and through the struggle of faith, the new emerges as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

As with the butterfly, the 'struggle' is necessary in denying ourselves in order to more fully realize the strength of God's supply to enable us to soar above what we once were bound up in.

The next time you see a butterfly, remember the miracle of transforming faith when God changed a 'worm' such as you and me into a beautiful new creation that is no longer bound to the 'things' of this earth. Those who believe God are set free by the authority and power of Jesus' name and given the right to be called His children! What a thought! What grace! What a life-changing truth!

Soar like it today! Serve like it this week! See this world from a higher position, one that the Lord has provided through justification of faith (Romans 5:1)!

Live in a way that others see Him,
