First Things @ First

There is much news floating about today. Never in history has mankind been able to access the volume of news that is out there today. And most all of it is available at our fingertips.

Deception is being forced upon us through multiple news sources in the attempt to sway the thoughts and intent of the heart toward what is being designed from the prince of the power of the air (Eph. 2:2). Our enemy the Devil continues his march toward the lake of fire and will not relent in his desire to steal, kill, and destroy. He continues carrying out his twisted purpose through the children of disobedience, (Eph. 2:2) largely through the 'air ' waves of the news media, print media and social media.

In a world that is overflowing with information and misinformation remember that there is only one trustworthy source of news. It is the Word of God. There is no 'fake news' recorded in the Holy Scripture that God has penned and preserved for anyone who needs hope, help, love, assurance, security, peace, and a reason to take another step as difficult as it may seem. The deceptive purposes of the politician will not provide that. It's only designed to drive you and me toward deeper dependence on a flawed/failing system that is being manipulated by pride and used for personal gain and glory.

The good news that endures and overcomes the ebb and flow of political/personal bias is the Word of God. Through it, God turns the bad we experience for good in those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Checkmate, Satan!!

The word of God remains good news even when it may bring conflict in our spirit. The goal of God is to make you well, not necessarily wealthy in this world's goods. Many, if not most don't see that as a satisfactory goal when placed alongside all the glitz and glamor that this world system offers. However, the good news of salvation will pay eternal dividends of love, joy, peace, thanksgiving, and praise when embraced by a submissive heart to God who is always good.

Isaiah, the prophet said in chapter 61:1-2a, "The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captive and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn..."

Jesus repeated those words (Luke 4:18) as He began to walk throughout Israel as the messenger/minister of hope and salvation. That message, His message continues to accomplish what God designed it for daily in hearts across this world when it becomes our message, our good news taken to others.

It's easy to get caught up in the world news today. Would to God by the grace of God that the people of God get caught up in sharing the good news of a daily word from God before they are caught up in the air to meet Jesus (1 Thess. 4:16-18).

Share some good news this week and give the fake news a break, literally!

Blessings,
